Hudson- 9 months

Hudson is now 9 months old! (actually more like 9 1/2 months)

-Height and Weight: He didn't grow as much as we would have liked.  He weighs right around 15 pounds, is 26 3/4 inches, and his head is 44.7cm.
-He is still wearing a size 2 diaper and 6-9/9 month clothing. Most of his clothes seem to fit pretty good--not falling off of him, but still some room to grow.
-He still just has the two bottom teeth, which came in back in November.  I took him to the doctor back in February to make sure he didn't have an ear infection and our pediatrician commented that his four top teeth are all just sitting right under the gums.  He thought they would push through soon, but nothing yet!
-He takes 2-3 naps each day....once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and sometimes a cat nap in the evening.  He usually goes to bed sometime between 8-8:30pm and wakes up sometime between 7:30-8:00am.
-He is nursing four times a day (wake up, before lunch, late afternoon, and bedtime).  He eats food 3 times a day.  We started some finger foods (puffs) this month and he loves them!  He has the pincher move down and gets so excited when he sees the puffs container.  We've tried yogurt bites and mum mums, but those still gag him sometimes.  Our pediatrician told me that he can eat whatever, just as long as it's pre-chewed or mashed.  He said not to worry about fat (since he is so small), and to give him rich foods.
-Hudson is a crawler.  He is slow and steady, but gets where he wants to go.  He has also pulled up on my leg.
-Hudson loves to growl and talks about dadadadada all day long.  I'm not sure that he is associating it with Eric yet, but enjoys jabbering.  It's usually about "dadada and yayaya".  I use a little sign language with him, and he definitely understands "more" (especially in reference to puffs).  He has waved a little bit and loves to play peek-a-boo.  He also enjoys banging things together.  He loves bath time with brother and probably laughs most often at Cooper (or from being tickled!)
-And what do we still hear about all the time from people when we are out?!? ......the HAIR!

We are pressing on towards ONE.  Can you believe it?!  I guess I need to start planning a big birthday bash.  We love you Hudson and can't imagine our family without you!

And for comparison, here is Cooper at about the same age:

Missouri weather

One of the great things about where we live is getting to see four distinct seasons.  I would prefer it to stay mid-70 degrees, but I enjoy getting to see fall, spring, winter, and summer.  I think I'm always ready for the next thing too.  It will get HOT and humid in August and I can't wait to put on a hoodie, see the leaves change, and watch college football.  And then I'll be ready for Christmas season, hot chocolate, and watching it snow.  I get over the snow pretty quick though.  I'm not a very good homebody and I really dislike having to walk around in the slush, especially now that I'm lugging two little guys and all their stuff around in the slush too.  Not to mention putting coats and hats on and off, on and off.  So I have enjoyed this past week of spring weather and I like to see new green sprouts coming up from the ground!  It's kind of funny that we have really just gotten our winter snows in the past month.  We were out of town for a couple little snows and then happened to be around one weekend when we got maybe around 4 inches.  Eric took Cooper out to play and he LOVED it.  Cooper loves playing outside, but we weren't sure what he would think of the snow--being cold, wet, falling, etc.  Plus he can get a little timid, so I wondered how sledding would go.  Well, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.  (I wanted to post a video, but it's not uploading correctly)

He had SO much fun.  But spring is coming in....and I'm ready for it.  We have had some great weather the past week or so, including it getting to almost 80 degrees yesterday!  It's been nice to run outside, play at the park, and Eric even attempted to take Cooper fishing.  It only lasted for about 10 minutes, as he could see the slide just across the lake and was ready to play.  We'll have to try fishing with grandpa soon.  Welcome spring!  We are ready to play!

Conversations with Cooper

If you've read this blog any number of times, you've probably heard me say before that Cooper is a talker!  He started talking early and he pretty much talks from the moment we walk into his room in the morning until the last goodnight as Eric walks out the door.  I wanted to write a few things that he has said recently that makes us laugh....or just the way he says words.  I've been making little notes in my phone because I don't want to forget!  (And some pictures....cause I know you're actually just here for the pictures).  Cooper is 2 years and 5 months old.

He loves to wrestle with daddy....and this conversation happens almost every day when Eric comes home from work. "Hi daddy. You want to wrestle? You need to change your clothes first?"  On this particular weekend morning, he excitedly said, "I'm Super Cooper! I'm way up there and I cray cray."  (not sure where he picked up cray cray from)

Instead of saying 'maybe' or it 'might be'....Cooper says "uhhhh.....miy be"

One morning, he brought this baby out and said it was time to feed baby.  He hopped up in the chair, grabbed the boppy, and I had to get a photo.  My favorite part--his dinosaur shirt that says "FEED ME!" right in the perfect spot.

He has started wanting to wear his hat more often, ever since his friend Boone visited a few weeks ago and was wearing a hat.  Except most of the time, Cooper puts his on backwards.  It kills me.  I'm picturing him as an 11 year old, wearing his hat backwards.

Hudson, Cooper, & Boone

For the most part, Eric does bedtime with Cooper while I am feeding Hudson before he goes to bed.  If they have finished reading "Good Night, Good Night Construction Site" book, the bible story, sang songs, and given hugs and kisses before I'm finished (in that exact order....don't mess with a first born and his routine), then Cooper runs in and gives me hugs and kisses in Hudson's room.  For a while, he has joked and said, "Night night...daddy" to me when he is leaving the room, followed by lots of giggles.  There is often a pause between night night and daddy as he thinks of his joke and gets the right words.  Well last night, I told him "Love you, robot" as he left the room because he was wearing his robot pajamas.  Without missing a beat, he turned back and said "Love you, pjs".  He makes us laugh!

Robot pajamas

And the best part--robot tush!
Cooper often gets stuck on repeat.  For example, "May I have some milk?" or "May I do stickers" or "May I watch sump in (something)?"  He will repeat over and over again....no matter if the answer is yes, no, hold on, etc.

We are in the thick of potty training.  We've been going for a month, and if you would have asked me last week if Cooper was potty trained, I would have said yes.  After the last few days and several accidents, I would now claim that he is about 90% potty trained.  Our little words of affirmation child will often encourage us too--like when he told Eric, "Daddy, good job going on the potty!"  Cooper was in the bathroom with Eric one day, and Cooper shouted out to me, "Babe, can you bring the wipes?"  Since then, we've heard "Babe...." several times.

We recently started giving him a daily gummy vitamin.  He calls it a "bitamin" and every time he gets one, he says, "It's kind of like a fruit snack." and grins.  (He LOVES the fruit snacks).

Thanks for reading about life with Cooper.  He really is a hoot!

Apron & cape at the same time!
